Mandarin Presentation Contest and Final Event

What is the most important aspect of learning a language? In addition to the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, it is also crucial to be able to apply the Chinese language effectively in daily life.

學習一門語言最重要的是什麼呢?除了基本的聽說讀寫以外,如何將華語融會貫通地運用在日常生活中也是非常必要的能力。

The Mandarin Learning Program focuses on cultivating the professional Mandarin proficiency of both local and foreign students and actively promoting their integration into the local community. In order to broaden students’ learning horizons, the “Mandarin Presentation Contest and Final Event” was held on June 13th at the Yangming Campus. The presentation competition not only assesses students’ learning outcomes for the semester but also encourages them to strengthen their practice of Mandarin vocabulary and grammar related to their own lives through competition themes. Task-based learning methods are used to gradually enhance students’ Mandarin language proficiency.

國際生華語培育計劃著重培養校内外籍生的專業華語能力外,也積極推動國際生的在地連結。爲了更拓寬學生的學習視野,陽明校區華語簡報競賽暨課程成果發表在6/13 舉行。簡報競賽除了檢視同學於本學期的課程學習成果之外,亦鼓勵同學透過競賽主題,加強練習生活中與自己切身相關的華語詞彙或語法,並以任務導向學習法帶領學生逐步提升華語能力。

In the presentation competition, students can participate in their appropriate level, including beginner or intermediate. Beginner-level students deliver bilingual presentations, while intermediate-level students present entirely in Mandarin. Both levels can choose their own relevant topics. In addition to the presentations, students also have the opportunity to listen to the wonderful content shared by peers from different backgrounds.

在簡報競賽中,同學可以將以適合自己的等級參賽,包含初級或中級。初級的同學們以雙語進行簡報,中級的同學們以全華語進行簡報;兩級皆可以自行選定相關主題。在簡報之餘,亦能聽聽來自不同背景的同學分享精彩的內容。

The winners of the beginner group include two teams. The first team consists of Indonesian student Ma, student Tan, and Malaysian student Niou. The trio presented a bilingual report on the theme of “Muslim Ramadan,” not only introducing key Mandarin vocabulary but also supplementing it with English to explain the fasting culture of Ramadan and even sharing common coconut dates from Muslim culture with all the teachers and students present.

初級團體優勝組包含兩組,第一組為印尼籍馬同學、譚同學以及馬來西亞籍紐同學,三人合力以雙語報告【穆斯林的齋戒月】主題,不僅以所學華語詞彙介紹重點,亦以英語補充齋戒月的禁食文化,甚至分享穆斯林文化中常見的椰棗給所有參與師生享用。

The second winning team consists of students Long and Cai, who jointly introduced important festivals in the Philippines and Vietnam primarily in Mandarin. In particular, Cai presented the “World’s Longest Christmas” in the Philippines, which begins preparations in September and includes masses.

第二組優勝組為龍同學與蔡同學,兩人合力以華語為主介紹菲律賓與越南的重要節日,尤其蔡同學介紹菲律賓【全世界最長的聖誕節】,因為從九月便開始準備且有彌撒的緣故。

The winner of the intermediate individual category is Vietnamese student Nguyen. After two semesters of Mandarin language courses and diligent learning, he attempted to present his previously planned “Pingxi, Houtong, Jiufen Day Trip” primarily in Mandarin. The presentation included vocabulary related to transportation, culture, and daily life, covering topics such as taking a train from Shilin Station to Taipei Station, releasing sky lanterns in Pingxi, and visiting the cat village in Houtong.

中級個人優勝者為越南籍阮同學,其在兩學期的華語課程後,勤奮力學,本學期嘗試以全華語簡報分享自己先前規劃的【平溪、猴硐、九份一日遊】,包含從石牌站到台北車站搭火車、平溪放天燈、猴硐貓村等等,囊括交通、文化與生活主題相關詞彙。

Through this presentation competition, it is believed that students not only improve their own Mandarin language expression skills but also have the opportunity to communicate different festivals, customs, and cultures using Mandarin as the main medium.

經過了這場簡報競賽,相信同學們獲得的不只是自身華語表達能力的提升,更是以華語爲媒介交流不同的節日、習俗和文化。
