五月五,慶端午!

The Mandarin Learning Program (Office of International Affairs) and Liberal Arts College (Community and Peer Education) joined forces to organize a series of cultural experiences, including the “Mandarin Dragon Boat Festival Workshop” and the “Midsummer Challenge: Traditional Medical Culture Experience.” The aim of these events was to provide a deeper understanding of the local Dragon Boat Festival culture and customs to international students on campus.

為了讓在校外籍生深度認識在地端午文化與習俗,國際處華語計畫和博雅書苑(社教中心國際學舍)攜手舉辦系列端午文化體驗活動,包括【華語端午節日工作坊】和【夏日挑戰—傳統醫藥文化與端午體驗】。這兩場活動分別從華語學習與體驗節慶的角度出發,讓校內的境外生與本地生有機會互相交流,一同探索在地的節日文化。

The Mandarin Learning Program not only focuses on promoting Mandarin language learning but also aims to facilitate cross-cultural and interdisciplinary exchanges between international and local students through related lectures and activities. In the Dragon Boat Festival Workshop, the speaker encouraged international students to practice vocabulary and grammar related to the festival context. They also provided insights into the cultural background of the festival and employed gamified exercises to enhance students’ memory retention.

華語計畫旨在推動華語文學習課程之外,也期盼透過相關講座和活動來提供境外生和本地生建立跨文化、跨領域的交流。在端午節日工作坊中,講者鼓勵境外同學練習端午節慶語境相關的詞彙、語法,並帶領大家認識節慶的文化背景,同時透過遊戲化的練習加深了同學們的記憶。

The workshop attracted the participation of 24 students from the Yangming Campus, including 20 international students and 4 local students. The participants represented various nationalities, including Ukraine, Vietnam, Nigeria, Swaziland, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

本次工作坊吸引了來自陽明校區的24位學生參與,其中包括20位境外生和4位本地生。他們來自不同國籍,包括烏克蘭、越南、奈及利亞、史瓦帝尼、印度、印尼、馬來西亞等。

On the other hand, Liberal Arts College: Community and Peer Education is committed to promoting cross-cultural connections among local students. The “Midsummer Challenge: Traditional Medical Culture Experience” combined herbal introductions, gua sha tutorials, and interactive activities, providing both local and international students with an enriching and enjoyable experience of the Dragon Boat Festival culture.

另一方面,博雅書苑-社教中心也致力於推動本校學生之間的跨文化連結。【夏日挑戰—傳統醫藥文化與端午體驗】結合中醫社的藥草介紹、刮痧教學與闖關活動,讓本地生和國際生體驗充實又有趣的端午節日文化。

Through this series of Dragon Boat Festival activities, students not only improved their Mandarin language skills and practiced festival-related vocabulary and grammar but also gained a deep understanding of the local culture through engaging exchanges and interactive experiences. Taiwanese student Chen expressed her happiness in having meaningful conversations with Vietnamese and Ukrainian classmates during the workshop. The opportunity to share perspectives on the festival and the historical figure Qu Yuan was particularly interesting. Additionally, participating in the Summer Challenge activities and learning about traditional Chinese medicine proved to be a valuable experience for all.
透過此端午節系列活動,學生們不僅提升華語能力、演練更多與節日相關的詞彙和語法;亦在體驗活動的精彩交流與互動中,深度認識在地文化並體驗學習。本地生陳冠竹亦表示,很開心在工作坊中與越南、烏克蘭籍同學深度交流,能夠在工作坊中和不同國家的同學分享彼此對於節日、古人(屈原)的看法十分有趣;且在夏日挑戰活動中,和大家學習中醫等體驗也是很寶貴的經驗。
